Gayle Pope remains a favorite person to many in Marysville. Her degree from Detroit Commercial College led to spending a varied professional career in the automotive, hotel, merchandising and airline industries. The latter allowed for world travels which led to an appreciation of fine art and craft. An avid art collector, Gayle always encouraged creativity in others, and used her talent to improve the efforts of whatever organization she served.
Spending her retirement years in Marysville, Gayle served the Marysville Chamber of Commerce as a loyal volunteer for its Art In The Park event as well as others for many years. The Blue Water Humane Society of St. Clair County was another organization that benefited by her involvement.
This scholarship is designed to recognize and encourage current Maryville High School students who are planning to continue their education in the arts.
